The Society’s History Group organises an annual programme of History Walks in the Oxton Area – see below for 2023 programme. We can also offer tailor-made walks for small groups or organisations on any weekday – contact us at history@theoxtonsociety.co.uk
Much of what Oxton has to offer is clearly visible but the stories of events and people from history are best told entertainingly by an Oxton Society Guide.
EAST WALKS: Fairview Road, South Bank, Arno Road – 20 May, 8 July, 9 and 30 September
WEST WALKS: Village Road, St. Saviours, Wellington Road – 22 April, 27 May, 22 July, 13 September
The East and West Walks start in the Village centre, by the post box CH43 5SF
ARNO WALKS: Ingestre Road, Birch Road, Woodchurch Road – 7 May, 10 June, 5 August, 17 September
The Arno Walk starts by the play area next to Sainsburys petrol station CH42 8PQ
WILLIAMSON WALKS: Slatey Road, Devonshire Place, Alton Road -13 May, 24 June, 19 August, 16 September,
WOMEN OF OXTON: Alfred Road, Christchurch Road, Village Road, Palm Hill – 8 March, 31 May, 10 September, 7 October
The Williamson and Women of Oxton Walks start at the Williamson Art Gallery, Slatey Road CH43 4UE
All walks start at 11am and last between 1.5 to 2 hours. The walks are free. Donations welcome.
